Description
PROMETHRIN
(solution for external use)
Description
Clear oily liquid from light yellow to dark yellow color with a specific odour of the constituent components.
Composition
1 ml of the preparation contains the active substance:
deltamethrin – 50 mg.
Excipients: ethyl acetate, tween 80, isopropyl alcohol.
Pharmacological properties
ATCvet QP53, ectoparasiticides, insecticides and repellents (QP53AC11, deltamethrin).
The active substance of the preparation is synthetic pyrethroid deltamethrin, which has a wide spectrum of action on insects and ticks as a contact poison. Deltamethrin in direct contact is effective against chewing louse, lice, bloodsuckers, blood-sucking Diptera insects, zoophilic flies, fleas, acariform and parasitiform ticks and other temporary or permanent arthropods on the body of the inhabitant, as well as on arthropod pests and pollutants of animal products. The mechanism of action of deltamethrin is to block the transmission of nerve impulses by the ganglion peripheral nerves, resulting in paralysis and death of arthropods.
The preparation is moderately toxic to warm-blooded animals, in the recommended doses and concentrations does not have a local irritant and allergenic effect. Toxic to bees and fish.
Usage
Treatment and prevention of dog for diseases caused by parasites: fleas (Ctenocephalides spp., Pulex irritans), chewing louse (Trichodectes canis), lice (Vituli setosus); blood-sucking insects Diptera: Culicidae, Simulidae, Tabanidae, Ceratopogonidae, Psychodidae; zoophilic flies: Muscidae, Calliphoridae, Sarcophagidae; by ticks: Ixodes spp., Rhipicephalus spp. Dermacentor spp.; sarcoptiform ticks: Scabiei canis, Otodectes cynotis; demodex ticks: Demodex canis and processing spaces.
Dosage
The preparation is used for the treatment of dogs by spraying. The emulsion of the preparation is prepared immediately before use by adding the appropriate amount of the preparation to the required amount of water at room temperature at the ratio:
The type of ectoparasites against which treatment is carried out |
Dosage |
Ixodic ticks | 0.75 ml of the preparation per 1 liter of water |
Sarcoptiform and demodectic ticks:
preventive treatment therapeutic treatment |
0.6 ml of the preparation per 1 liter of water 1 ml of the preparation per 1 liter of water |
Wingless insects: fleas, chewing louse, lice | 0.25 ml of the preparation per 1 liter of water |
Diptera: mosquitoes, midges, gadflies, woodlice, mosquitoes, zoophilic flies | 0.5 ml of the preparation per 1 liter of water |
The treatment is carried out by moistening the entire surface of the animal’s body against the growth of hair, starting with the auricles and ending with the hind limbs, paying special attention to the places of the greatest parasite damage. Allow the hair to dry without washing off the drug. The treatment is carried out in the open air or in well-ventilated areas with open windows.
For therapeutic purposes, dogs are treated twice with an interval of 7-10 days, for preventive purposes, the treatment is carried out once. Repeated treatment of animals is carried out according to the indication for the same scheme.
Treatment of animals against blood-sucking Diptera insects and zoophilic flies is carried out, if necessary, by spraying (on average once every 2 days).
Depending on the size and bodyweight of the animal, the working emulsion of the drug is used at the ratio of 50-200 ml/animal.
In order to prevent re-infection with fleas, chewing louse, lice, the processing of places, where animals are kept, are carried out with a working emulsion of the preparation. The bedding is washed with detergent before the next use.
The preparation is used for the processing of places where dogs are kept (aviaries, etc.) against arthropods:
For spraying, various devices can be used to provide fine-drop spraying.
The working emulsion of the preparation is prepared immediately before use by adding the appropriate amount of the preparation to the required amount of water of the room temperature at the ratio:

The ratio of consumption of the working emulsion of the preparation is 50 ml/m2 (surfaces that do not absorb moisture) and 100 ml/m2 (surfaces that absorb moisture). With a high number of insects, the consumption ratio can be increased by 2 times.
Processing of premises should be carried out in the absence of people and dogs. All dishes, food products and other products must be removed from the premises before processing. You can enter the premises in 1-1. 5 hours after the end of processing. Processed rooms should be well ventilated for at least 1 hour in the absence of people and animals. Clean the processed surfaces in a wet way – using a soap and sodium carbonate solution 24 hours after applying the preparation, other places – 3-5 weeks after the loss of its effectiveness.
Contraindications
Individual hypersensitivity of animals to the components of the preparation.
Do not use in sick, emaciated and old animals, as well as in females during pregnancy and lactation.
Do not use the preparation simultaneously with other insect-acaricidal agents.
Cautions
In the event of allergic phenomena in the animal with individual hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation, its use is discontinued and, if necessary, symptomatic treatment is carried out.
Do not pet animals or allow small children to touch them for 24 hours after processing.
Do not bathe animals after processing for 48 hours.
All work with the drug is carried out with the use of protective clothing (robe, rubberized apron, headdress, rubber shoes and gloves, safety glasses, respirator). At the end of the work, you must thoroughly wash your face and hands with soap and water and rinse your mouth.
Forbidden to smoke, eat, or drink during the processing of animals.
If the preparation accidentally gets on the skin or mucous membranes, it should be washed off with a stream of water or a swab; if it gets inside, drink a glass of warm water with 2 to 3 tablets of activated charcoal. If there are signs of poisoning (dizziness, nausea, general weakness), you should consult a doctor (you should have the instructions for using the drug or the label).
Empty containers must not be used for household purposes.
The container contaminated with the preparation is decontaminated with a 3-5% solution of calcinated soda (for 5-6 hours), after which it is washed with water. Neutralize with a 5% solution of sodium hydroxide or an aqueous suspension of slaked or bleached lime (diluted with water in a ratio of 1:3).
Neutralized preparation residues and flushing water after treatment of animals are drained into a pit with a depth of at least 0.5 m, located at a distance of at least 50 m from water sources, reservoirs, rivers, and grazing areas, and buried.
